Herpesonline was founded to provide an informational, supportive, and advocacy resource to the STD Community.

To accomplish this goal, Herpesonline promises to network with the healthcare, support, social and business communities to draw knowledge; information; research; other content, including illustrations, pictures, and other media; and experience. The networking will also allow for support, whether financial or contributory, such as printing, services or items to meet other needs.

Herpesonline is a member of several ad banner programs, which allows selected ad banners to be displayed on this site. The ad banners, when used for purchases, provide small financial rewards, usually pennies per purchase, which helps defray the costs of providing this forum.

Why we are not a non-profit - There are far to many rules and regulations that would suppress the voices of those living with STD's.  Example:  I personally know the positive emotional impact that suppressive antivirals have on my life, giving me freedom from worry, etc.  Trying to adhere to non-profit guidelines would prevent positive remarks such as that from being voiced.  At Herpesonline we support positive reinforcement without restriction!  We also encourage the participation in social groups that would also be a restriction under non profit guidelines.

To generate additional revenue, Herpesonline may also sell advertising, sponsorships, and site content to outside companies who desire to address the members of the STD Community.  Herpesonline will however NOT nor will it Ever consider selling email addresses or contact information of it's members and visitors.  
 

The SSNA was started in order to strengthen the efforts of promoting social and support groups, Herpesonline has joined the Alliance and has adopted much of the same policies pertaining to the promotion and advertising of various sites, events and organizations.

* The Alliance: To be listed as part of The Alliance your site or discussion group must be location specific and include a link back to Herpesonline from your sites main page, links section and/or site map. If your site or discussion group requires people to “sign up” then the link back must be completely accessible to the public. An Alliance by definition is an agreement between people that are committed to helping the greater good.

* Announcements: The SSNA Networking Announcements is a FREE Bi-monthly plain text email that goes out to people that sign up to receive one. If your site is listed on the SSNA and you are linking back appropriately you can ask to have your group event mentioned in this newsletter. The newsletter is posted to many discussion groups as a special notice which also mean that your information will reach more people. In return we ask that you supply your group members a copy of this newsletter FREE of charge.
 

* Link Exchange: To be listed as part of our Link Exchange your site or discussion group must include a link back to Herpesonline Link Exchange or Herpesonline Home Page from your sites main page, links section or site map. If your site or discussion group requires people to “sign up” then the link back must be easily accessible to the public.

* Herpesonline Informational Links: Herpesonline Informational Links includes resources and information about herpes, genital warts, and other sexually transmitted diseases. Potential site listings on this page are open to discussion and consideration via e-mail with the web master.

* Herpesonline Dating Links: To be listed as part of the Herpesonline Dating Links your site must be a dating, personals or friendship site and include a link back to Herpesonline Dating Links or Herpesonline Dating Guide from your sites main page, links section or site map. If your site requires people to “sign up” then the link back must be easily accessible to the public.

* Herpesonline Discussion Groups: Most of our forums have a link section. That means you can have your announcement, site, organization or group plugged into the appropriate category – ONLY IF – the information is not already listed on the pages above OR in the bi-monthly newsletter. A link back to that discussion group from your web sites main page, links section or site map is required. If your site or discussion group requires people to “sign up” then the link back must be easily accessible to the public.
